FOUR MONTHS LATER
SLAUGHTER NIGHT CONTINUES TO MAKE NOISE AS THE FRANCHISE GROWS BIGGER THAN EVER
Tomorrow, June 13th, officially marks four months since Slaughter Night first hit select theaters, and it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown by. What started as an independent horror film from Elite Films Production has grown into the company’s biggest release, biggest opportunity, and biggest success to date.
The film reached more than 14 different cinema locations throughout California, including screenings at Tulare Galaxy Theatres and Porterville Galaxy Theatres, as well as Lemoore Cinemas. All three locations that hold special meaning for filmmaker Thomas Sahagun. Those same theaters are now playing a role in the future of the franchise as production continues on the highly anticipated sequel, Slaughter Night 2.
One of the biggest talking points during the film’s theatrical run was the strong local support it received during its opening weekend. Several showings sold out during the film’s initial release, with the first three days of screenings generating some of the strongest audience turnout the company had ever experienced. The response was especially notable at both Tulare Galaxy Theatres and Porterville Galaxy Theatres, where local audiences turned out in large numbers to support the homegrown independent horror production.
For filmmaker Thomas Sahagun and the Elite Films Production team, the turnout represented more than ticket sales. It demonstrated the power of community support for independent filmmaking and showed that local audiences were willing to support a project created and produced in the Central Valley. The strong opening weekend helped build momentum for the film’s wider theatrical expansion and contributed to the growing buzz that followed Slaughter Night throughout its release.
Many fans continue to point to those opening screenings as a defining moment in the film’s success story. What began as a local independent horror release quickly grew into a much larger conversation, helping establish Slaughter Night as the most successful theatrical release in Elite Films Production’s history.
The success didn’t stop in California. Slaughter Night also expanded to more than 75 AMC Theater locations across the United States, introducing audiences nationwide to one of the most controversial independent horror films in recent memory. For a small independent production company, reaching that many screens was a major achievement and something few could have predicted when the project first began.
Today, the film continues to find new life online after becoming available on YouTube, where it has sparked nonstop conversations across social media. Fans continue sharing clips, reviews, reactions, and debates about the movie, while others have criticized the film’s disturbing content.
The film tells the story of a masked killer whose brutal actions leave a trail of fear, violence, and destruction behind him. Its dark atmosphere, shocking scenes, and relentless pace have earned the movie a dedicated fanbase that continues to grow months after its release. Many fans praise the film for refusing to play it safe and for bringing back the raw feeling of old-school independent horror.
At the same time, the film has also received significant backlash. Critics have called it disturbing, extreme, and difficult to watch. Some viewers have questioned the film’s violent content especially its involvement with young children, while others argue that its controversial nature is exactly what has helped it stand out in today’s crowded horror market. The debate surrounding the film has only fueled its popularity, helping keep it in conversations long after its theatrical run.
The movie’s success has extended into the film festival world as well. So far, Slaughter Night has won two film festival awards and has been officially selected into five festivals. These accomplishments have helped further establish Elite Films Production as an emerging independent studio capable of reaching audiences both in theaters and on the festival circuit.
The momentum continues next month when Slaughter Night arrives on the Fawesome streaming platform beginning July 1st, giving even more viewers the chance to experience the film for themselves.
Looking back four months later, many within Elite Films Production still describe the release as a surreal experience. The film became the company’s biggest theatrical release, biggest distribution opportunity, and largest financial payout in company history. It opened doors that simply did not exist before.
Now, all eyes are on Slaughter Night 2. According to the production team, the sequel is being developed with a much larger budget, bigger ambitions, and expanded production resources. The goal is not only to continue the story but to raise the stakes in every possible way. From the scale of the production to the overall filmmaking process, the sequel is shaping up to be the most ambitious project Elite Films Production has ever attempted and one that can either make or break the production with attempts that have yet to be done on a screen.
Four months later, the impact of Slaughter Night is still being felt. For Elite Films Production, what began as an independent horror film has become a defining moment in the company’s history, and the story is FAR from over.
